Welcome to our 50th Anniversary road trip....

After consuming a filling motel breakfast we struck out on our 500 mile trek of the day….from Tupelo, MS to Lake City, FL.  We took US 78/I-22 to Birmingham, AL where we changed to I-65 to Montgomery, AL.  From there we took US 82 to Tifton, GA.  From Tifton we traveled I-75 to Lake City, FL and the home of our dear friends, Steve & Vicki….and Schroder & Marcie….their precocious Yorkies!  The day would begin sunny and pleasant but when we crossed into Alabama the sky darkened and low hanging, dreary clouds would be with us till we got to Georgia.  Soon after we were in GA the clouds began touching the ground….rain.  It rained for about 3 hours….sometimes raining so hard we actually slowed down to nearly a crawl, like the rest of the traffic.  Then when we got near Florida the rain stopped, the clouds broke up and the bright light in the sky shone upon us!  We had the Chamber of Commerce, picture postcard perfect day follow us the rest of the way south.  Because of the rain and misgided GPS directions we arrived later than we expected at Steve & Vicki's home.  After we unpacked a little, we visited a while then turned in to for a good nights rest.
