Day 21....Saturday May 30, 2015

We all piled in the blue Jeep and launched for breakfast at Subway!  Yup we had seen the ad on TV about the Subway breakfast so we wanted to give it a try….it was ok if you are in a hurry, better than other fast food but we like Cracker Barrel the best….grinning.

Our first destination of the day was an old church that would be reclaimed by nature in a few years, it was kinda sad.  Then we visited the grave yard adjacent to the church….most of the headstones were very old but a few were recent!  So I guess people were still laid to rest in the ‘family’ church cemetery.  If no one keeps up area then it too will be lost to history one day.

We continued on and saw the ubiquitous cattle egrets….and some small Florida deer.  We went by Wellborn, FL where they were preparing for the annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival.  Who knew, blueberries in Florida!  Then we went by a large auction house with old machinery and cars languishing behind fences.  That would be a fun place to explore sometime.  Then back out in the country for more scenic vistas and magnificent old buildings.  I think roaming around like this would be an artists’ paradise.

Then we got off the wide “normal” sand road and headed for Little Shoals Park.  I began getting a little nervous when I saw a sign stating “Hazardous Road Conditions Ahead 4-Wheel Drive Vehicles Recommended” The road then turned into a narrow twisty, two tire track trail.  It was fun exploring like this and we finally got to the park.  We explored a little but we are not ‘off road’ people so we soon left for the next leg of the adventure.  We drove through a little town with last Century buildings on our way back home.  We freshened ourselves up a little then we visited the Brown Lantern restaurant in the neighboring town of Live Oak for a superb dinner that included fried Mac & Cheese.  When we got back to Steve & Vicki’s home we spent some more time visiting around the pool then retreated to our bedroom and began recovering from a very fascinating & adventurous day.  Tomorrow we may cover a lot of road.
